I haven't been submitting anything in forever. Why? I only use a mechanical pencil for most of my drawings (except for the last two in my gallery). 'Why does that matter?' I have frequently been asked.
Where its graphite was so much smoother and finer- excellent for shading, but it smudges extremely easily. Armored Kantus 2 in my gallery no longer exists because it was completely wiped out. I was working on a very complicated, extremely detailed dragon straight from out of my head. It made my eyes cross from the difficulty and microscopic detail that I took a break from it for about a week and left my sketchbook closed. When I opened it back up a few days later, somehow, magically, it was completely smudged. It wasn't like a blur here and a blur there. No, but the entire dragon was inaudibly wiped out and spread. That dragon had taken over two months and still I was only half way done. I was upset. Okay, more than upset. It was impossible to fix- I know I attempted it for an hour- so I tore it out and threw it away (the same with the Kantus).
Dumbfounded on how it had ever happened, I simply took a break from it for a while. But, I am drawing again and working on ever more ideas for my deviation gallery. I still have my confidence in my talent, and am now using and practicing with actual artistic graphite pencils. What can I say? Just because one soldier dies does not mean that the entire army has to give up.
